THQ Files Historic Trademark?

by Matthew Kato on Mar 14, 2012 at 04:13 AM

THQ has filed a mysterious trademark for "video game software" called 1666. Is this in reference to the year, or something else?

The Great London Fire happened in 1666, but would passing wooden pails of water make for an exciting video game?

Some other stuff that happened in 1666 (according to Wikipedia) that may or may not make for a good video game:

  • Sir Isaac Newton passes light through a prism
  • Moulay al-Rashid conquers Fes, marking the beginning of Morocco's still-reigning Alaouite Dynasty.
  • Cestui que Vie Act 1666 passed in Parliament
  • Jean Talon completes a census of New France, the first census in North America
  • The year is also known for having all the Roman numerals, used only once, in order from biggest to smallest value (MDCLXVI = 1666)

Although THQ is facing some troubles, earlier this year the company said that it had two unannounced core titles for fiscal year 2013 (ending on March 31, 2013) and four for fiscal year 2014 and beyond.
