Confirmed: Microsoft Raising Gamerscore Max For XBLA Games

by Tim Turi on Mar 12, 2012 at 10:40 AM

UPDATE: Xbox Live's Major Nelson has confirmed the previous rumor regarding an increase in Gamerscore for XBLA games. Games releasing next month will have the option to include 200 or 400 Gamerscore, and 20 or 30 Achievements. Starting in June, all XBLA games will be required to have 400 Gamerscore and 30 Achievements.

ORIGINAL STORY: Achievement junkies rejoice! Xbox360Achievements.org has heard from a trusted source that Microsoft will be increasing the max Gamerscore available in downloadable games.

Allegedly, the base Gamerscore allotment will increase from 200 to 400 per game, with the max Achievements raising from 20 to 30. Gamers could also snag even more Gamerscore than ever with the new DLC policy. DLC would come with 8 Achievements for a total of 100 Gamerscore each, but would be limited to four packs.

The new policy is rumored to kick in sometime between April 1 and May 31. We’re still waiting on confirmation from Microsoft, so until then this is just wishful thinking for Gamerscore addicts.
