Microsoft Reveals A Bevy of New XBLA Titles

by Matt Miller on Mar 05, 2012 at 11:50 AM

The recent Spring Showcase was full of new announcements and details on the upcoming slate of XBLA games.

Microsoft had a lot of new info to share at its recent Spring Showcase. With all the big announcements, it'd be easy to overlook some cool new Xbox Live Arcade announcements.

And that would be an awful thing to do.

Here's your first look at several upcoming (mostly newly announced) titles.

First up is Bloodforge, a new game that seems to be mixing mythological fantasy with more than a touch of bloody, God of War-style combat. Check out the trailer:

Then we have Deadlight. This interesting new project from Tequila Works is set in an alternate version of the 1980s in which a zombie epidemic is sweeping through the United States. You play as Randall Wayne as he encounters other survivors, platforms and puzzles his way out of trouble, and avoids combat wherever and whenever possible. Here's an early screenshot:

If scary 80s zombie fantasies aren't your thing, perhaps you'd like to try Diabolical Pitch. The Kinect-enabled cooperative game is creeping right up on us with an April 4th release date. Grasshopper Manufacture, Inc. is known for its unusual game concepts, and this one is no exception. You play a former baseball pitcher with a bionic arm who must use his pitching ability to survive in a terrifying amusement park. Yep. Pretty weird. Check out the video:

South Park: Tenorman's Revenge looks like it should be good for a laugh. The new game is a 4-player local or online cooperative game of platforming action. Filled with lots of familiar South Park references like ManBearPig and Mr. Hankey, the trailer shows off a game with a lot of variety. Here's hoping it turns out to be as fun as it looks:

Previously announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Trials Evolution join the pack, along with Wreckateer, Fable Heroes, and Joe Danger: The Movie. It's a lot of Xbox Live goodness to consider. Which games are you excited about?
