Boston Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez talks briefly about how his childhood prepared him for MLB stardom in this Sony-produced video. Also some dorky-looking guy named Damian tells a story about how he won a game of MLB 12 The Show, and manages to be simultaneously more excited and animated than Gonzalez while relating a story a thousand times duller.

It's unfair of me to make fun of Gonzalez here. Sure, like most athletes he's got all the on-camera charisma of the universally loathed Microsoft Office mascot Clippy, but at least he hit the ball some last year. A certain catcher I've been known to idolize is Gonzalez' match in the first area and managed to captain his team to 99 losses in the 2011 season.

But hey, at least he doesn't play for the Yankees. Or the White Sox. Or the Tigers.

MLB 12 The Show comes out tomorrow on PlayStation 3, so you can start banking your own boring stories shortly.
