[Update: Solved!] What's Atlus Teasing With This Mysterious Image?

by Matt Helgeson on Feb 17, 2012 at 04:40 AM

[Update]

As we wrote in the original story below, the most likely explanation for this teaser image seemed to be confirming that Atlus was bringing Persona 4: The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (a 2D fighting game) to the States. In the comments to this story, GI reader Michael Braiser observantly spotted the similarity between the graphics behind the "Stay Tuned" in the picture and the logo for the game. As you can see, the "shattering" pattern in the logo is an exact match. Thanks Michael!

[Original Story]

We just received an email from Atlus, which appeared to contain nothing but a large black box. The subject line was equally minimal, reading "_____." However, there's more to the picture.

My colleague Phil Kollar dropped the .jpg file of the black box into Photoshop, and tweaked the contrast to reveal the image you see below, which has some angular graphics and the words "Stay Tuned." Obviously it's a teaser of some sort, but what? The most obvious thing would be the announcement that the company is indeed bringing Persona-themed 2D fighting game being developed by Arc System Works to America, but we can't say for sure. Surely some observant reader knows the answer.
