[Update]

Insomniac head Ted Price, one of the classiest guys in the game industry, released this video message to fans of Resistance, explaining the company's decision to part with the franchise while thanking fans for their support over the years.

If Resistance 4 ever comes, one thing's for certain: It won't have the Insomniac logo on the box. CEO Ted Price said in an interview that his team is finished with the series. “We won’t be making any more Resistances,” he said bluntly in a recent interview with VG247.

His statement backs up what various members of Insomniac's crew have said for a while now, coming most recently from Resistance 3's creative director.

Back in August, Marcus Smith said that while his team may be done with the series, he thought it still had plenty of room for future installments. "We've got a lot of different places for the universe to go, so I could certainly see the series going to another developer. I'm sure Sony would want to find a high-caliber developer to do a good offering. I don't think they'd hand the franchise over to somebody who is going to screw it up."
