Trion Worlds Aims For Guinness World Record In...Virtual Weddings?

by Matt Bertz on Jan 25, 2012 at 09:24 AM

Trion Worlds is looking for eligible bachelors and bachelorettes. Why, you ask? To no doubt celebrate the sanctity of marriage by setting a record for the most virtual weddings within a 24-hour time frame.

What doesn't Guinness hand out world records for?! Seriously, I'd like to know.

If you aim to participate in this bacchanalian event, you need a copy of the MMO Rift and some free time on Valentine's Day to get the deed done (I'm sure your real-world boyfriend/girlfriend won't mind). The festivities start at 9am PST sharp, and unlike most states in this country, the power brokers in Telara celebrate unions between all races and sexes. Instead of discriminating against same sex marriage, they draw the line down a Montague-Capulet axis – you can't walk down the aisle with a member of the opposing faction.

These weddings are made possible by the new Update 1.7 that launches in early February. To get hitched Vegas style, all you need to do visit a marriage vender in your faction's capital city, purchase a ring, and throw it on the finger of your partner. More celebratory types can throw a full wedding ceremony complete with a fancy ring exchange and a reception for 200 of your closest friends.
