Toy Modder Frees Skylanders

by Jeff Cork on Jan 15, 2012 at 04:40 AM

Skylanders has been incredibly popular for Activision, thanks in part to the line of high-quality toys that are incorporated in the game. Unfortunately, the toys are a bit stiff. Fortunately, a toy modder has come to their rescue, adding articulation and other cool details to the figurines.

A gallery on Jin Saotome's Dangerous Toys shows just some of the possibilities. Figures are freed from their pedestals, with multiple joints and other parts (like blasts of fire) added. Players can still return the custom figures to their bases when its time to play the game.

It doesn't look as though they'll hurt any less when trod upon with bare feet, though. Maybe the next batch of official figures will be made out of rubber. Speaking for dads everywhere, I sincerely hope so.
