Just Dance Series Is More Popular Than You Are

by Jeff Cork on Jan 13, 2012 at 02:58 AM

Ubisoft's Just Dance franchise is kind of a big deal. Recent sales figures show that even though hardcore gamers may scoff at the casual dancing game, the series is getting along fine without them. As it turns out, it's getting along really, really fine.

Just Dance 3, the latest installment in the series, has sold more than 7 million copies since its early October release. It was also one of the biggest games this past holiday season.

"It's quite a feat that Just Dance 3 beat out all competition to be the number one game on all motion-controlled platforms for the month of December," says Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. "The Just Dance franchise continues to be the game of choice for consumers around the world looking for games with great music and fun dance moves."

Call of Duty may have an issue with anyone claiming to be the number one game in December, hence Key's slightly odd "motion-controlled platforms" qualifier.

All told, the series has sold more than 25 million copies since it debuted two years ago. That's certainly something worth flailing around over.
