2K Sports has just announced their third annual $1 Million Perfect Game Challenge for the upcoming Major League Baseball 2K12, and this year's contest features a few tweaks.

Instead of simply handing over an over-sized check to the first person to pitch a perfect game like it has done the two previous years, 2K Sports is now instituting an eight-person live tourney from which the ultimate $1 Million winner will emerge.

Starting on baseball's opening day, April 4, MLB 2K12 gamers using the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the title (the game also comes out for 3DS, PSP, PS2, PC, and Wii) can try to pitch the perfect game in 2K12's Perfect Game Challenge mode. Those who do will get a code they can enter into the www.2ksports.com/perfectgame website. From here, a dynamic leaderboard will track all the perfect games completed to determine the eight tourney finalists, and through the end of April you'll be able to repeatedly play the mode to try and improve your position.

Details on the final round and other rules and regulations can be found at the official site (see link above).

Major League Baseball 2K12 comes out on March 6.
