Tomb Raider Studio Crystal Dynamics Developing New IP

by Matt Helgeson on Jan 04, 2012 at 10:27 AM

Crystal Dynamics, which is currently hard at work on the much-anticipated reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise, has something else up its sleeve.

The news that Crystal Dynamics is working on a brand new original property came from none other than former Game Informer editor Meagan Marie, who now serves as the studio's community manager (Hi Meagan!). In her Square Enix blog, Meagan wrote:

"Not only will our team be eating, sleeping, and breathing Tomb Raider, but we’ll also be hard at work preparing to reveal exciting new intellectual property to the world."

She also quoted Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher, who commented, “2012 is going to be the biggest year in Crystal’s history. We have a ton of great content lined up from our teams and we can’t wait to pull the wrapper off some of the amazing things we have been putting all of our efforts into.”

We have no idea what this new IP is, but given Crystal's long track record, it's certain to be a game worth paying attention to. Stay tuned for more news about this new project.
