Report: 3DS Could Pass 4 Million Units Sold By Year End
Despite a shaky launch, Nintendo's much-maligned 3DS handheld has actually put up a very good year of sales. According to new data from Japan, the system could eclipse the 4 million sold worldwide mark by year's end.
According to the Japanese sales tracking organization Enterbrain, the 3DS has posted its best weeks ever in Japan, with over 300,000 moving in stores per week. This is mostly attributed to the release of Capcom's ultra-popular Monster Hunter G.
Factor in improved sales in the U.S. due to the holiday shopping season, and it now seems likely that the 3DS could end the year with an installed base of over 4 million. Not a bad year for a new system.
