Skyrim Is First Western Game To Earn Perfect Score From Famitsu

by Matt Helgeson on Nov 29, 2011 at 08:47 AM

While Skyrim didn't earn a perfect score from Game Informer, the venerable Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has given the game its highest honors -- the first time a perfect score has been awarded to a game from a Western developer.

While 17 games have been awarded Famitsu's prestigious 40/40 score, all of them have been made in Japan, including Ocarina of Time, Soulcalibur, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Final Fantasy XII. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is now the first Western game to be awarded 40/40, besting many popular games that were awarded 39/40 by Famitsu, including GTA IV, Modern Warfare 2, Gears of War 3, and Red Dead Redemption.
