Sonic fans, you have Alex Kidd to thank. If the jug-eared monkey boy had taken off as a mascot, Sega wouldn't have been forced to create his replacement. Sega goes into this and more in their first installment of their Sonic the Hedgehog documentary.

Longtime Sega fans will enjoy seeing former Sega heads Tom Kalinske and Peter Moore talk about Sonic's birth, and why he was so desperately needed in the first place. There are also interviews with the character's designer Naoto Oshima and programmer Yuji Naka. Sega plans to release four videos in this series, just in time for Sonic's 20th anniversary and the recent release of Sonic Generations.
