A First Look At Battlefield 3's Back To Karkand Expansion

by Jeff Marchiafava on Nov 04, 2011 at 08:47 AM

DICE has released a trailer for Battlefield 3's Back To Karkand expansion, which gives players their first glimpse at the updated look of these classic maps.

As reported last month, the Back To Karkand expansion contains four classic Battlefield maps which have been updated for Battlefield 3: Strike at Karkand, Wake Island, Gulf of Oman, and Sharqi Peninsula. However, Back To Karkand isn't just a map pack: it also brings to the game more dog tags, achievements/trophies, vehicles, weapons, and an extended persistence system that rewards players for completing various assignments. The trailer also states the expansion will deliver enhanced destruction capabilities, which take center stage in the gameplay footage seen below.

DICE still hasn't named a specific release date for Back To Karkand, only that it will be released sometime in December. Back To Karkand will cost $15, but is free to those who bought the game new.
