There's A Whole Lotta Prototypin' Goin' On
With all the games coming out this season, it's easy to forget about what's ahead in 2012. One of those games happens to be Prototype 2, and Activision isn't about to let you forget it. No sir. Not on their watch. The game will be playable for the first time this week at New York Comic-Con, and the publisher has loads more Prototype 2 stuff in the works.
First, the playable portion. From October 13-16, attendees at New York Comic-Con will have a chance to get their tendrils on the game for the first time. “A few months ago, we let our fans see Prototype 2 for the first time at San Diego Comic-Con, and now we have put together two great playable missions for New York Comic-Con,” says Ken Rosman, studio head at Radical Entertainment. “The first mission touches lightly on Heller’s story, while the other is something we call a ‘Rampage Challenge’ – where it’s all about the action and players can compete for the best score. Both missions will give fans an initial taste of what’s in store when the final version of Prototype 2 comes out in April next year.” Visit Activision's booth (number 738) to see it for yourself.
If you aren't able to attend, all hope isn't lost. Activision will be unveiling the second part of a CG trailer trilogy this Friday on the game's official site. Also, anyone who tweets a message containing #prototype2 during the Comic-Con event (12 a.m. Eastern on October 14 through 11:59 Eastern on October 16) will be entered into a drawing to win a custom-skinned Xbox 360 console.
And if you absolutely, positively have to have even more Prototype-oriented things to do, visit the game's Facebook page and create your own monster using this app. It's kind of like playing with Mr. Potato Head, only with diseased tissue and horribly disfigured limbs instead of plastic bowler hats and mustaches.
