UK Developer Survey: PSN Titles Preferred Over XBLA

by Matthew Kato on Oct 06, 2011 at 10:17 AM

A survey of UK developers shows that almost twice as many studios are working on PSN titles as those working on XBLA ones. However, PC and mobile development overshadows all of the home systems.

A survey of 100 UK studios by trade group Tiga found that approximately 30 studios in the UK are currently making PSN titles as compared to 16 with XBLA. In the past, Microsoft has been criticized for the way it controls developers trying to put content onto XBLA, but it's worth noting that the UK is home to five Sony worldwide studios as opposed to two from Microsoft. Also, the PS3 is more popular in Europe than Xbox 360.

These findings, however, are tempered by the fact that PC and mobile development trumps the home consoles, claiming 67 percent work on iPhone titles and 41 percent create PC games.
