Sony Hopes To Allow Developers To Use Vita Touch Screen To Control PS3 Games

by Matt Helgeson on Oct 05, 2011 at 10:45 AM

Sony head Shuhei Yoshida demonstrated the "remote play" functionality of the Vita at TGS, now he's speaking out on some of Sony's future plans for the intriguing feature.

While he admitted that the TGS demo was done with a wired connection between the Vita and PS3 due to interference concerns, he stated that the remote play connection should work just as fast wirelessly under normal circumstances.

He also revealed that Sony is hard at work making tools and software libraries to help developers make PS3 games compatible with Vita remote play. Apparently, there are some issues regarding memory and CPU usage that need to be addressed in the development process.

He also said that you'll be able to use the Vita as a "sub monitor" display for PS3…which sounds a heck of a lot like Wii U. Even more interesting was his statement that Sony intends to create software libraries that help developer use the Vita's touch screen for PS3 control.
