3DS Still Topping Hardware Sales In Japan

by Phil Kollar on Oct 05, 2011 at 08:58 AM

The 3DS' troubles have been well-documented, but with a price drop and the recent announcement of a new Monster Hunter coming for the handheld, it's picking up steam in Japan.

Andriasang reports that after selling a healthy 70,000 units two weeks ago, the 3DS sold 58,504 last week. Not everything is looking great for the system, though. Although it's at the top of the hardware charts, software still isn't selling. In the top 20 games in Japan from last week, there are no 3DS titles until 11 and 12, which are taken up by Japn-only title Senran Kagura and Nintendo's Ocarina of Time 3D.

Still, Nintendo is starting to recover some ground after the 3DS' shaky launch. Who thinks they can keep it up?
