Activision Now Taking Submissions For Second Indie Competition

by Jeff Cork on Oct 03, 2011 at 03:49 AM

It looks like Activision's Independent Games Competition wasn't just a one-off event. The company announced today that it's now taking submissions for the second wave of the contest, with $250,000 in cash prizes at stake.

As with the previous contest, the winning developer will get $175,000 to complete their project, while the runner up will nab $75,000. And like before, Activision will retain the right to publish the winning games if it so wishes. The winning entries will be selected by a jury at IndieCade. Developers have until December 31, 2011, to submit their entries.

"This competition underscores Activision's commitment to fostering creativity in the independent development community," Dave Stohl, executive vice president of studios, Activision, said.  "Many of us began our careers as indies, so we are very proud to offer this kind of support and encouragement to a couple of the industry's young visionaries."

Activision says the official rules can be accessed here, though they weren't up yet at the time of this posting. Wake up, guys!
