Another Wii U Developer: Vicarious Visions

by Adam Biessener on Sep 30, 2011 at 11:12 AM

I know that LinkedIn is ostensibly for business people to connect with each other and build professional networks, but the site's alternate function of leaking unannounced products before their time sometimes seems larger. Today's edition features Activision's Vicarious Visions studio working on a mystery title for Wii U.

The ever-vigilant GameSpot has spotted (that's what passes for cleverness on a Friday afternoon, leave me alone) "Project Nova" for 360, PS3, and Wii U on a Vicarious Visions associate producer's LinkedIn page.*

The multiplatform listing reinforces my feeling that the Wii U is going to have a whole lot of ports of PS3 and 360 games with token nods to the goofy controller. I have a hard time believing that non-Nintendo publishers are going to invest a ton of money into Wii U tech when any graphical improvements are going to likely be surpassed when new Sony and Microsoft machines leapfrog the Wii U hardware-wise in a few years.

Vicarious Visions has been up and down, but I'll always remember the studio for making an excellent Doom 3 port for the first Xbox back when that engine was the new tech hotness.

What are you hoping for out of a Vicarious Visions project on Wii U?

* My limited LinkedIn-fu didn't let me find the listing (or, more likely, it has since been removed), but if GameSpot has started making up stories out of whole cloth, we have worse problems.
