I Am Alive ESRB Rating Suggests It Is Still Alive

by Tim Turi on Sep 26, 2011 at 05:56 AM

Ubisoft’s post-apocalyptic survival game, I Am Alive, has been an elusive creature sticking to the shadows for a long time. The game has suffered multiple delays since its announcement in 2008. Back in June the Australian Classification Board rekindled excitement that we’ll eventually see the game when it gave the game a MA 15+ rating. Now the ESRB is throwing fuel onto our fires of hope.

Predictably, the ESRB has rated the game mature. The description talks of a man battling through city ruins to rescue his family. The action itself sounds pretty grisly. “Battles are accompanied by realistic gunfire, slashing sounds, and cries of pain; characters emit brief splashes of blood when hit.” Getting even gorier, the description also reveals “Players have the ability to kill or knock unconscious wounded/vulnerable enemies via finishing moves (e.g., throat slashing, impaling, pistol-whipping); these scenes are highlighted by close-up camera angles and increased player control." Now reread that last line in the voice of the narrator from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre trailer and you'll feel the full impact.

We’ll let you know more about this PC, PS3, and 360 title as it comes. At this rate the box art will be revealed in 2013.
