Weekend Warrior 09/16/11

by Ben Reeves on Sep 16, 2011 at 02:33 PM

IT'S FRIDAY IT'S FRIDAY IT'S FRIDAY! That means the weekend is here, which means more time to play video games! Here's what some of the GI staff have planned for their weekend gaming. Let us know your plans in the comments.

Tim Turi: I'll still be in Japan playing games at the Tokyo Game Show this weekend, so my video game to-do list is a little interesting. I still need to swing by Sega's booth to play the game's their touting, and also visit Square Enix to try out Final Fantasy: Type 0. On the plane ride back to Minnesota I'll probably play some Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, Jetpack Joyride, and old NES games on my 3DS.

Phil Kollar: It’s my birthday! To celebrate, I’m going to partake in adult beverages tonight and then spend the rest of the weekend playing video games while recovering. Most of my weekend will be devoted to TOP-SECRET REVIEW GAME, which is going well but is extremely difficult. As I’ll definitely need some breaks from that, I plan to play more of Dead Island. I’m almost out of the beach area and on to the next section of the game, and despite some annoying bugs, I’m really enjoying it. Maybe I’ll even jump back into Alice: Madness Returns for a bit. Maybe…

Joe Juba: I've got a beer-filled weekend, since I'm going on a tour of the Surly brewery on Friday night, and then the local Autumn Brew Review on Saturday. Assuming I'm able to keep my wits about me, I want to keep going on El Shaddai…but I'm not making any promises.

Ben Reeves: I have a couple of batches of homebrew to keg, otherwise, I’m planning on playing some more Mario Picross and Plants vs. Zombies, because I can’t seem to get away from these games I’ve already beaten. I also have a couple of trades of Ex Machina sitting at home that I can’t wait to finally tear open.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I’ll most likely shun the outside world and any semblance of a social life in order to listen to podcasts and play more Jetpack Joyride for the iPhone. I’ve played that game so much the words “profit bird” have lost all meaning. This week I also started playing LA Noire, despite my love for Rockstar I came in to the game with a poor attitude and the intention of seeing how many cars I could destroy on every mission but it managed to get its hooks into me and I’m looking forward to playing more of the game on Sunday. If I find the time, I would also love to try out Rock of Ages and to continue my revived interest in Starcraft 2 multiplayer.

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend I have a bunch of yard work to complete before my fall shipment of raspberry plants and grapevines shows up. When I’m not hacking up dead bushes in my backyard, however, I’ll be hacking up the undead of Banoi in Dead Island. See what I did there?

Kyle Hilliard: When not hanging out in my barren, recently moved-into apartment trying to steal my neighbors wifi, I will be celebrating Phil Kollar’s birthday, and seeing a local comedy group perform improv about Star Trek. I also plan on re-inflating my air mattress, because it is getting dangerously low.

Matt Bertz: I've got Gears of War 3 staring me in the face, but before I dudebro it up with Marcus and Dom, I've got some unfinished business with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. With Battlefield 3 less than two months away, I'll also probably get a round or two in with Bad Company 2 to sharpen my skills for October 25.

Jeff Cork: I just moved into our new house today, so I'll probably be playing a lot of Where Did that Go, and Living Out of Boxes this weekend. I'm hoping to get the new TV out of the box and hooked up. Maybe I'll just say I need to "calibrate" it for a few hours on Sunday while my wife unpacks...

That's it for us! What are you playing this weekend?
