Zen Studios And Team Meat Scuffle On Twitter, Promptly Make Up

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 08, 2011 at 02:00 PM

Team Meat hasn't minced words when discussing their experience dealing with Microsoft during the development and release of Super Meat Boy. Recently another indie developer, Pinball FX 2 creator Zen Studios, offered their own take on working with Microsoft, which caused some heated words between the two studios – only to lead to a cordial invitation to work together.

Zen Studios provided Gamertag Radio with an email response the studio wrote regarding Team Meat's GDC speech, which was highly critical of Microsoft. The email, which Zen Studios describes as "a bit of a rant on the other side of the Team Meat negativity," calls out Team Meat for publicly bashing Microsoft so severely and so often. This led to some harsh Twitter exchanges between Team Meat and Zen Studios, further outlining how different the two team's impressions of Microsoft have been.

Team Meat and Zen Studios are probably my two favorite indie developers, so seeing them argue on Twitter was kind of like watching my parents fight. But here's the good news: After hashing out their differences, Team Meat asked Zen Studios if they want to make a Super Meat Boy pinball table, which Zen Studios promptly called a "RAD" idea -- one that they had tried to contact Team Meat about last fall. Team Meat responded to the idea with an enthusiastic "Let's do it!"

While a spontaneous agreement on Twitter is far from a confirmation, Zen Studios did recently put out another Pinball FX 2 table based on Twisted Pixel's XBLA indie title, Ms. Splosion Man. All I can say to Zen Studios and Team Meat is please make this happen!
