Onechanbara Adding Another Flavor Of Undead
Zombies have hogged the gaming spotlight for some time now, and it's easy to forget that they're not the only form of the undead. If you've strolled through the young adult aisle at your local bookstore lately, you've probably noticed a few million books about vampires. D3Publisher appears to have taken note, too, and they're staking their claim on the blood-sucking creatures in the next Onechanbara game.
According to Famitsu, Onechanbara Z: Kagura will star a pair of vampire sisters, Kagura and Saaya. It's going to be an Xbox 360 exclusive in Japan, where it's set to be released sometime this winter. There's no word on whether the game will be coming to North America.
In Onechanbara: Bikini Samurai Squad, zombies spilled gallons of blood as they were slashed apart. This was more than just a visual flourish, however. As heroine Aya tore the creatures apart, both she and her weapon would get drenched in gore. When she was completely soaked, she'd enter a rampage mode, where she both dealt and took more damage from enemies. As her sword became coated, it would gradually become dull and run the risk of getting lodged in enemies.
It'll be interesting to see how the vampire sisters interact with all that blood. Vampires certainly have a taste for the red stuff, but zombie blood may not be the healthiest drink. Will they get corrupted if they consume too much? What kinds of weapons will the wield against those zombies? Will they wear cowboy hats? We'll have to wait and see.
