New Professor Layton Launches October 17, Includes Free RPG

by Joe Juba on Aug 29, 2011 at 09:45 AM

Fans of Professor Layton's puzzle-solving adventures have two things to anticipate. The first is a confirmed release date for The Last Specter, and the second is a bonus Layton-themed RPG that supposedly takes 100 hours to complete.

Called Professor Layton's London Life, the RPG involves players wandering around London completing quests for civilians. The game is developed by Brownie Brown (the same studio behind Mother 3), though unlike many RPGs, this one doesn't seem to have a battle system.

The game will be included as part of The Last Specter when it launches October 17. While Japanese gamers had to beat the core game first to access the bonus adventure when this title first released overseas, North American gamers don't need to do anything fancy to unlock it. European gamers, however, are not so lucky; Professor Layton's London Life won't be included in that version of the The Last Specter.
