Ben Affleck Slated To Star And Direct In FPS Inspired Thriller

Like Clint Eastwood, Ben Affleck seems to be making a successful transition from actor to director. Now, the Good Will Hunting star is in negotiation to direct Line of Sight, a thriller that will be shot to emulate a first-person shooter video game.

Slashfilm reports that Affleck might tackle the Line of Sight project after his current directing effort, Argo, wraps filming. Line of Sight is produced by Hollywood veteran Joel Silver and written by Peter O'Brien, who wrote the script for Bungie's Halo: Reach.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, "The idea, conceived by Silver Pictures' Alex Heineman (who also exec produces), centers on an elite commando squad transporting cargo while dealing with a global threat. One of the conceits of the movie is that it tells the tale from a point-of-view akin to a first-person shooter game."

Sounds like an interesting experiment in cinematography. Affleck certainly has some directing chops. Both his previous films, Gone Baby Gone and The Town, earned critical raves and even an Oscar nomination for The Town actor Jeremy Renner.
