Resistance: Burning Skies Coming To Playstation Vita

by Dan Ryckert on Aug 16, 2011 at 07:45 AM

During the Sony press conference in Cologne, Germany today, the company revealed a new Resistance title for the Vita. Resistance: Burning Skies is being developed by Nihilistic Software, who mentioned that they're working with Insomniac on the title. Unlike the PSP's Resistance: Retribution, this will be a full first-person shooter.

The game takes place right before the events of Resistance 2, as the Chimera are invading the east coast of the United States. Burning Skies puts you in the shoes of NYC fireman Tom Riley, and the gameplay demo took place on Ellis Island. It showcased several pieces of Vita functionality, such as tapping the screen to direct grenades, a dedicated melee button on the front screen, and using Sixaxis motion to peek out from behind cover. In addition, the series' trademark weapon wheel can also be accessed via the touch screen.

No release date was announced for the game, but the brief gameplay demo looked fantastic for a portable.
