Putting Some Minecraft In Your Pocket

Minecraft Mojang has announced that it has released the first edition (Alpha 0.1) of Minecraft: Pocket Edition exclusively for Xperia Play owners.

The game is currently available in the Android Market (but only visible to Xperia Play devices) for $6.99, Mojang states that the game will be released to other Android devices in "the near future."

Mojang says that like regular Minecraft, this version is a work in-progress and it will get "frequent updates," but currently it includes features such as: randomized worlds, 36 different kinds of blocks, local area multiplayer, and the ability to save multiplayer worlds on your phone.
