Professor Layton Movie Releasing On DVD and Blu-Ray November 8

Have you ever thought "Wow, those animated scenes in Professor Layton games could make a cool movie"? You aren't the only one. Layton's movie adventure, Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva, is finally coming to North America.

Level-5 announced the release of the film, and you'll be able to buy it yourself on November 8. In an interesting twist, the events are a part of the series canon; this isn't just some spin-off movie with rough approximations of the characters like we see in most Hollywood game-to-movie projects. The plot is set directly after Professor Layton and the Last Specter (the DS game scheduled to hit North America in roughly the same timeframe as the movie).

The description of the plot from the site reads:

"Professor Layton, true English gentleman and the world’s greatest amateur super sleuth, embarks on his most daring adventure yet when he receives a letter from his old student, the famous opera diva Janice Quatlane. She is to perform at the legendary Crown Petone Opera House and invites him to attend as her special guest. Meanwhile, a spate of disappearances hits London. Two young school girls are the latest victims, and the Professor suspects it’s related to the mysterious occurrences at the theatre. The Professor and his loyal assistant Luke travel to the Opera House to solve their toughest puzzle yet, the mystery of Eternal Life!"

Will the Layton series be as fun to watch as it is to play? We'll find out in a couple months. In the meantime, you can see the full boxart for Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva below.
