Weekend Warrior 07/22/11

by Annette Gonzalez on Jul 22, 2011 at 02:00 PM

Find out what we're playing over the next few days then share your weekend plans in the comments section!

Reiner: Summer is here, and that means Minnesota's largest candy store is now open. I'll be there with a handful of friends on Sunday. If last year's first visit can be viewed as a measuring stick to how much I'll spend, I should be $100 poorer come Monday. Outside of this shopping expedition, my weekend consists of extensive playing of Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and seeing Captain America.

Tim: This weekend I’m covering news for gameinformer.com, but I’m going to try to get some gaming in. I’ll spend my time leaping across rooftops in Infamous 2, destroy Tubes in Trenches, dig deeper in Terraria, and explore the vast world of Bastion.

Annette: This weekend I'm handling final preparations for the big move to Boston! I'll be joining the Harmonix community team in August (you can read all about it here). There will be lots of packing in my near future. I also plan on a few final hang outs with my brothers from other mothers (the GI crew). I've had such a great time at GI and look forward to what's to come! I'll be sure to still check in here from time to time. :)

Jeff M: This weekend I plan on playing more Fallout 3, now that I’ve gotten back into a pleasant rhythm of killing bandits, looting and repairing their equipment, and selling it for bottle caps that I’m probably not going to spend on anything anyway. I may actually try to complete a few missions too. I also plan to play more Bastion, which should serve as a nice break from Fallout 3 bleak wasteland.

Dan: I’m gonna be spending the weekend drinking beers at a couple of going-away get-togethers for the author of this article. She’ll be missed here at GI, but we know she’ll have a blast at Harmonix. Other than the Annette-related festivities, I’ll be sinking some more time into Bastion (loving it so far). I’ll also dabble with some Child of Eden, Ms. Splosion Man, and Link’s Awakening.

Ben Hanson: This will be my first weekend in a while that I’ll have time to sit at home and play games, I’m oh so excited. My roommate just bought a new computer and so I’m hoping to get a faux LAN party set up for a couple of Starcraft 2 matches. I was able to squeeze in a  2v2 last weekend and it was the most enjoyable gaming experience I’ve had in a while, my Protoss skills haven’t withered away too badly. I will also be continuing my playthrough of Link’s Awakening, I’m head over heels for this game. Dan Ryckert is also playing the game on his 3DS and I need to make sure that I don’t fall too far behind, that guy is a gaming steam engine. I’ve also been playing Epic Mickey, I’ve only spent a couple of hours with it so far but am enjoying it. The structure of the game isn’t my favorite and they hold your hand way too much, but the art and music are enough to compensate. And then there is always Radiant Historia and Puzzle Agent 2, hopefully my weekend will be long enough to scratch all of these itches.

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?
