PopCap Shows Off Sneak Preview Of New Pig-Centric Facebook Game

PopCap Games is known for its addictive games such as Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle, and Bejeweled. You can now add the company's new Facebook game Pig Up! to your list of productivity killers.

The game, which can be played here, is the company's first new IP since 2009's hit Plants vs. Zombies. In Pig Up!, players use the space bar or mouse button to make a pig flap his makeshift wings. The goal is to remain aloft as long as possible, using a limited number of flaps. Picking up "flapples" gives your pig more flaps. You earn more points the higher you fly. There are also bees to avoid and point pickups representing your friends' high scores. Play long enough, and you can add upgrades for your porcine pal, including a flap magnet, armor, and a rocket pack.

It's quick to pick up and play, and it features one of the finest hillbilly interpretations of Wagner's Ride of the Valkyrie that I've ever heard.

The game is still being tweaked, but the version that's live is already shaping up to be a nice time waster.
