THQ Shutters UK Studio

In a bit of sad news, THQ today announced that it is closing its THQ UK studio in Warrington, UK. Previously, the studio had been in a 30 day consultation period in which THQ was working with employees to see who might be able to stay on with THQ. Apparently, the publisher eventually came to the decision to close the studio outright.

THQ UK has been working on Warhammer 40K: Kill Team, a downloadable game available now on Xbox Live. A skeleton crew of 10 staffers are being kept on to complete the PSN version of Kill Team.

According to Develop, some members of THQ UK are already striking out on their own with new start-up indie studios including D3T, Alien Apple Studios, and another as-yet-unnamed studio.

Our sympathies to those who lost their jobs in the closing.
