Saints Row: The Third Has Insane Special Edition, Pre-Order Bonuses

by Phil Kollar on Jul 11, 2011 at 02:20 PM

We already knew from our month of cover story coverage that Saints Row: The Third is an off-the-wall game. That craziness will carry over to the upcoming release's special edition and pre-order bonuses.

Destructoid reports that those who pre-order Saints Row: The Third will receive Professor Genki's Hyper Ordinary Pre-Order Pack. This oddly-named pack includes a special outfit, an...octopus gun (which fires tiny octopi, seriously)...and the man-a-pult car, which does just what its name suggests and launches people out of it. Amazing!

If that's not enough weirdness for you, you can pick up the Saints Row: The Third Platinum Edition. In addition to the pre-order pack, this box set has an in-game soundtrack and a special Saints Row-branded headset that features a built-in vocoder for auto-tuning your voice while you play. This sounds like something that will be totally fun to carry over to popular multiplayer games on Xbox 360 and PS3 and not annoying at all. TINY UPDATE: Commenters have informed me that the headset apparently cannot be used with Xbox 360 or PS3 for online play. I'm...actually genuinely kind of disappointed by that.

Joystiq also reports that the first 3,000 people to purchase Saints Row: The Third from THQ's online store will receive a free "Saints Row season pass" allowing them to download three mission packs at some point after the game is released. THQ says the season pass is "valued at more than $20," which is probably what it will cost most Saints Row players who don't receive the pass for free.

Any ballers in the audience willing to take the jump on the Platinum Edition?
