Bungie Says A Final Goodbye To Halo

by Tim Turi on Jul 08, 2011 at 09:52 AM

Bungie Day, a celebration where players squared off against each other and Bungie itself in Halo: Reach, ended yesterday with a final farewell from the developer.

The parting speech touches on the shift of multiplayer playlist responsibilities, the capabilities of new developer 343 Studios, and even hints at Bungie’s next game. Playlist management shifts hands on August 2nd, the same day as the release of a video documentary called “O Brave New Worlds,” chronicling Bungie’s last 20 years.

Here’s an excerpt from the end of the heartfelt goodbye:

“Ancient engines are now rumbling deep within the heart of our studio, and their energy will power us through the upcoming darkness. Like all dark times ours will be broken first by a single strand of light – a tether reaching out to bind us all together again. One day, we will awaken in a wondrous new place and we will remember just what it was that drew us together at the beginning of it all. We will look up to the heavens, and find hope.”

It’s sad to see a proven developer moving on from such an amazing series. However, most of my bad feelings about Bungie’s departure from Halo are extinguished by the exciting possibilities of the their new game.
