Media Molecule Sees A Life Beyond Sackboy

by Jeff Cork on Jul 02, 2011 at 06:24 AM

Media Molecule is tightly identified by its whimsical LittleBigPlanet games, but don't think that's all the studio is interested in pursuing. The studio's director recently told Edge that they're "stepping away from LittleBigPlanet to focus on some new ideas."

There's no word on what those ideas might entail, but job postings on the studio's site point to the PlayStation 3 and a portable system as likely platforms for the projects.

If you're worried that Media Molecule is completely abandoning poor little sackboy, fear not. "Loyal sackfolk - please be reassured that we will always be involved with LBP, at least a bit, and there's lots more fun yet to come! 3" says a tweet from Media Molecule.

As fun and satisfying as the games may have been to work on, it's understandable that the studio is ready to explore new things. They've probably overdosed on gingham and burlap by now.
