Bored? Play These Dumb Microgames

by Jeff Cork on Jul 02, 2011 at 11:17 AM

Google is releasing a series of notebooks called Chromebooks, which fall somewhere between a cloud-based notebook and a traditional one. That's the boring part. One of their selling points is how quickly they supposedly book up. As a way of illustrating that speed, Google has a released a series of microgames that can be played one after another in the Chrome browser. If you've played a WarioWare game, you have an idea of what to expect.

Steer your Chrome browser here to check out Beat the Boot (other browsers need not apply, unfortunately). Each game is playable in about eight seconds, which is approximately the amount of time a Chromebook takes to boot up. Games include "The Wood Chopper," "In the Blink of an Eye," and my personal fave, "Where is the Mustache?" They can be played solo, or head to head against players from around the globe.

It's free to play, so even if you have an absolutely miserable time with it, you didn't lose anything. Other than a few seconds of your precious life. Drat.
