Split/Second, Pure Studio Shut Down
After a significant set of layoffs earlier in 2011, Disney Interactive is closing Black Rock Studios.
It's never happy news when we hear that another development studio is closing up shop. Sadly, that's just the word coming down from Eurogamer today, where they received a press release from Disney Interactive confirming that Black Rock Studios is in the process of being closed.
"Disney Interactive Studios confirms that Black Rock Studios' current project has not been greenlit for further development, consequently the company informed employees yesterday of the intent to enter a consultation process on the proposal to close the studios," the press release reveals.
Both Pure and Split/Second were fun racing games -- it's a shame we won't see what else the studio could have done. Best of luck to all the affected employees.
