Weekend Warrior 06/24/11

The weekend is among us! Game Informer staffers share their weekend gaming plans. You should do the same in the comments section!

Reiner: Saturday is dedicated to finishing up L.A. Noire. Sunday goes to Shadows of the Damned. On a different note, I saw Green Lantern last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Reviews have been bad, but I found it to be an enjoyable super hero film, not quite up to Marvel's latest batch (or Batman's), but a fun ride nonetheless. Check it out. It's worth seeing for Sinestro.

Kato: As jazzed as I was to play L.A. Noire, that game simply hasn't held my attention very well. I'm in the middle of the vice desk, and simply haven't been able to finish the game. Granted, with E3 and everything, I've been very busy, but that's no excuse. Speaking of E3, all those great games at the show haven't made me want to play L.A. Noire anymore, either. But in lieu of a time machine to take me to the future where all these great games reside, what are you going to do?

Joe: My backlog is starting to become intimidating. I’m almost done with Infamous 2, and after that I need to go back and finish L.A. Noire. I’ve been hearing good things about Shadows of the Damned, so I’d like to give that a try, but I don’t know if I’ll have time before EDF: Insect Armageddon’s July 5 release.

Bryan: I’m playing Ocarina of Time 3D and hopefully getting to the adult Link section. Also throwing in some Game Boy Donkey Kong on 3DS into the mix.

Jeff M: This weekend I plan on checking out the new Captain America table for Pinball FX 2. It’s definitely a pleasant surprise to have a new table so quickly after the Fantastic Four one was released. I’ll also try again to get back into L.A. Noire – it’s a great game, but staying in a steady rhythm with it has thus far proved challenging. If I get tired of investigating crimes, I might commit a few of my own in my continued bad guy playthrough of the original Infamous. Or maybe I’ll just go buy Infamous 2 already.

Annette: I've been hearing nothing but great things about Double Fine's latest, Trenched, so I look forward to giving that a go this weekend!

Dan: Doing an insane 5K tomorrow called the Go Commando run. It involves going through mud pits, jumping over fire, and going down makeshift water slides. I can't wait, even though I'll probably die of a heart attack halfway through. Outside of that, I plan on taking it pretty easy and playing a bunch of Shadows of the Damned, Donkey Kong (GBA), Shantae, Super Mario Land, and the end of L.A. Noire. Then, I'm gonna try to take Ben Hanson's money at poker on Sunday.

Tim: This weekend I'll be continuing my ongoing efforts to vanquish the legions of hell in Shadows of the Damned.

Jeff A: More Zelda!!!

Ben Hanson: Alright, here’s my game plan. I’m going to start this weekend off with an indie RTS-ish title called Frozen Synapse. I’m heading into it blind, the trailer confused me but I’ve heard enough good things that I know it will at the very least be an interesting experience. Then on Saturday I’m going to be running/walking/crawling/slithering a 5K, at a certain point I’m planning on collapsing and will spend my hospital visit playing 1-Bit Ninja on the iPhone.  It is a simple platformer that uses the art style of Super Mario Land and the perspective shifting of Super Paper Mario.  If I’m released from the hospital early enough, I’m going to spend some more time with my Rock Band collection. I have a bottomless pit of love for The Beatles: Rock Band so that takes first priority. Enjoy your weekend!

That's it for us. What are you playing this weekend?
