Get More Harry Potter With Pottermore From J.K. Rowling

by Adam Biessener on Jun 23, 2011 at 08:23 AM

It's not a book or a game, so cool your jets. Pottermore is a sprawling interactive website set to launch in limited form on July 31 that contains a wealth of material from the bestselling Harry Potter novels. Announced by Potter author J.K. Rowling via YouTube this morning, Pottermore is part digital retail portal, part Potter fan hub, and part expanded universe guide.

Pottermore, which will open for one million fans via a game-like contest at the end of July, features 18,000 new words worth of content from the author herself. Users can explore Privet Drive, Hogwarts, and more on the website, learning all kinds of useless fascinating facts about Harry's world.

Fans will be able to interact with one another within Pottermore as well via some kind of user contributions, so polish up those LiveJournal entries. No, not those ones. Those will probably get you banned for life.

Are you ready to escape the Muggle world once more, or is Pottermore not enough to get you excited for Harry's adventures after their conclusion?
