Trackmania 2 Canyon Brings High-Def Social Racing To PC

by Adam Biessener on Jun 06, 2011 at 12:30 PM

Ubisoft dropped a cinematic trailer and a quick tease for Trackmania 2 Canyon at its E3 2011 press conference. The game appears to bring the same crazy Hot Wheels-like loop-de-loops and massive jumps to a Motorstorm-like canyon setting.

Ubi describes Trackmania 2 Canyon as an "MMO PC racing game," and the presenters at the conference teased its social, creation, and sharing aspects. The trailer doesn't show much besides realistic-looking cars racing around on gonzo tracks.

If Trackmania 2 Canyon channels the lighthearted racing fun that the franchise is known for while integrating a new engine and good online infrastructure, I'm on board. The images released so far and Ubi's claim of 200 players per server are steps in the right direction.

Trackmania 2 Canyon doesn't have a release date yet, but neither is there any indication of a monthly fee. You've got to take the good with the bad here.
