Is Disney Ripping Off TT Games' LEGO Series?
According to Traveller’s Tales design director Jon Burton, Disney interactive is “ripping off” his company's design scheme with its new game Disney Universe.
Disney Universe is a new game from independent UK studio Eurocom. In the game, a team of players assumes the roles of popular Disney and Pixar characters to complete famous Disney movie storylines told through a variety of different brawling and platforming sequences. If you think it sounds a little like TT Games' LEGO Series, you're not the only one.
As soon as Traveller’s Tales Jon Burton saw the title he started tweeting about it, saying: “Disney rip off our LEGO games and LittleBigPlanet to create: http://tinyurl.com/3z492d5. Best of luck to them.”
Later Burton added, “’Disney Universe allows you to take control of characters from Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland – Jon Burton's LEGO Star Wars more like! ;)”
It’s interesting to hear Burton complain about someone “ripping him off,” considering the LEGO titles have never been known for innovation, but Burton may just be having some fun. After all, he admitted to liking Eurocom as a developer: “Just found out it's Eurocom's game. I like Eurocom, so I'm conflicted now...”
