2K Sports Skips NHL Entirely
What does a player have to do to get some ice time around here? 2K Sports has announced it will not be putting out a hockey game this year – not even for the Wii.
In a conference call discussing Take-Two's earnings, COO Karl Slatoff confirmed that there will be no NHL 2K12 of any kind with the statement: "2K Sports once again does not plan to release a NHL title for consoles this year."
Last year the publisher only put out NHL 2K11 for the Wii, and said that the other console versions were on hiatus. Perhaps this total write-off of any hockey for 2011 from 2K Sports is a sign that the publisher is done for good with the franchise. Although we love EA's NHL series, it would be a shame for Visual Concepts to totally pack up shop on the sport.
