Ubisoft Cancels Titles But Says BG&E 2 And I Am Alive Are Safe

by Matt Helgeson on May 13, 2011 at 06:42 AM

In a new financial report, Ubisoft revealed that it has undergone an internal restructuring that lead to the cancellation of some game projects.

The line read: "Ubisoft has taken measures to adapt its structure to major changes in the industry by reorganising the roles and operations of its studios, which has resulted in the termination of certain projects."

This led many to speculate that the long-awaited Beyond Good & Evil 2 and I Am Alive projects might be on the chopping block. Thankfully, this is not the case. Eurogamer received word from Ubisoft that the cancelled games were unannounced projects. However, when asked about I Am Alive and BG&E 2, the company spokesperson would only say, "We have nothing new to report on those two titles for the moment."

Elsewhere in the financial report, Ubi head Yves Guillemot spoke about a new PC project the company is getting set to announce.

"In the coming days, we will officially announce an ambitious project on PC based on one of our top gamer franchises that will illustrate our capacity to take advantage of new business models," he said.
