Expanded Creative Assembly Working On Alien Action Game

by Jeff Cork on May 12, 2011 at 03:31 AM

Sega and Creative Assembly are working on a game related to the Alien franchise. Details are scarce at the moment, though we know the game is based on Alien, not Aliens.

Gaming site Rock, Paper, Shotgun was able to extract a few details from Creative Assembly, a studio best known for its Total War series of PC strategy games. First, it's supposed to be more than yet another space-marine style shooter. Perhaps something along the lines of a Dead Space? Also, it's being developed by much of the same team that worked on the studio's console game Viking: Battle for Asgard. The team told the site that it was definitely aware that the previous effort didn't get the amount of polish it deserved, and that the same thing shouldn't happen with this new game. There's no word on what systems it will be available on, other than the Creative Assembly's coy response that it will be on some kind of console.

Sega has expanded Creative Assembly's West Sussex operations to a 10,000 square foot facility. Director Tim Heaton told RPS that he expects the staff to grow to about 200 within a year.

Meanwhile, Sega continues to be silent on Gearbox's Aliens: Colonial Marines, which we featured on our March 2008 cover.
