Smithsonian Announces Art Of Video Game Winners

Today the Smithsonian American Art Museum revealed the full roster of titles that will be included in its upcoming The Art Of Video Games exhibition. Did your favorites make the list?

The exhibition, which will begin on March 16, 2012, covers the full spectrum of gaming, starting in the late '70s and ending in the present. You can check out the full list of included games via this handy pdf, but here are some of the biggest names that will be showcased:

  • Pac-Man
  • Space Invaders
  • Donkey Kong
  • Super Mario Bros. 3
  • The Legend Of Zelda
  • Star Fox
  • Doom II
  • StarCraft
  • Shenmue
  • Tomb Raider
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • BioShock
  • Mass Effect 2
  • Portal
  • Minecraft
  • Heavy Rain

There are many more games included in the exhibition, so be sure to check out the aforementioned pdf. I don't know about you, but knowing that a Doom game will be on display in the Smithsonian as an example of art brings a smile to my face.
