Ubisoft Forms Film Company To Do Video Game Adaptations
Ubisoft has already had one of its franchises turned into a major motion picture, with the release of last year's The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time starring Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, Variety is reporting that the company has formed a new division, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, which will adapt its video game properties into films and television programs.
Ubisoft Motion Pictures will be helmed by Jean-Julien Baronnet, the former CEO of EuropaCorp. Europacorp produced such films as Taken, Arthur and the Invisibles, Transporter 2 & 3, and the video game adaptation Hitman.
Ubisoft also owns the computer animation studio Ubisoft Digital Arts and the visual effects company Hybride Technologies, which it acquired in 2008.
