EA COO Leaves For Zynga

by Matthew Kato on Apr 26, 2011 at 05:31 AM

Electronic Arts COO John Schappert is leaving his position at the company for a reported executive post at Zynga.

The Wall Street Journal broke the news, but it's not known exactly what position Schappert will be taking at the social media company – who is a rival with EA's Playfish in the space – nor who will be replacing Schappert as COO.

Schappert took over as COO in 2009 after a two-year stint as a VP of Xbox Live software and services. Before that he was a senior vice president at EA and was the co-founder of Madden NFL studio EA Tiburon. Schappert joins fellow EA Tiburon co-founder Steve Chang at Zynga.
