Get Your Snipe On: Sniper Elite Sequel Announced
If you're tired of shooters that treat sniper rifles like any other gun in your arsenal, then today is your lucky day: Rebellion has announced it's working on a sequel to its highly realistic WWII sniper sim, Sniper Elite.
Rebellion hasn't revealed any other information about Sniper Elite V2, other than the screenshot above. However, the original Sniper Elite did a great job of recreating the cat-and-mouse tension of movies like Enemy at the Gates. The game also featured absurdly complex ballistics, requiring players to take into account gravity, bullet velocity, wind, and even their own heart rate before squeezing the trigger.
The original Sniper Elite received pretty mediocre reviews (the PC version sits at a 76 on Metacritic), but its emphasis on stealth and strategy made it a refreshing break from the standard shooters of its time. Rebellion is currently developing the game for Xbox 360 and PS3, and is anticipating a 2012 release date.
