Weekend Warrior: 04/01/11

by Annette Gonzalez on Apr 01, 2011 at 02:00 PM

Find out what we're up to over the next couple of days, then share your plans in the comments section!

Helgeson: I’m chilling, trying to play some Fight Night Champion, and on Sunday night I’m going to see Keith Morris of the Circle Jerks/Black Flag’s new band OFF! at the Triple Rock Social Club.

Annette: I'm handling news on the site this weekend, but I'll try and squeeze in some time with Beyond Good & Evil and more Chime Super Deluxe!

Tim: I’m probably over halfway through Monster Tale for DS, so I’m going to continue playing that. It’s a pretty standard Metroid-vania style game, but it’s addictive enough to keep me going. I’d like to get in some substantial Dragon Age II time as well. I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface of that game. Also, if I can get in more time with my best friend, I’ll play some more Hard Corps: Uprising and Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light. Awesome!

Dan:
This weekend is going to combine two of my favorite things – the Drinking Spelling Bee and Wrestlemania. Pretty happy about the buildup to the latter this year, as The Rock’s involvement and The Miz’s stellar work have me pretty excited. The Taker/HHH buildup has been surprisingly good as well, despite the fact that the match can’t possibly live up to the last two years’ classics with Shawn. Anyway, enough nerdy wrestling talk. On to nerdy gaming talk: I’ll probably be playing Killzone 3, DC Universe Online, Torchlight, and Half-Life 2: Episode Two.

Jeff M: This weekend I plan on spending a good chunk of time in DC Universe. It will be the first MMO I’ve ever played, and I’m looking forward to making my own super hero character and checking out the world. Beyond that, I think I’ll play more Fight Night Champion – I played through the excellent Champion mode, and now I’d like to make my own boxer and punch the crap out of more people.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I will be playing more of Chime Super Deluxe on PS3. I have Annette to thank for infecting me with the game’s awesome soundtrack since she reviewed it with the volume maxed out. I am also hoping to sit down for two hours or so and blast through episode three of the Back to the Future adventure games. I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two and the third has a fantastic premise. Ever since last week’s Replay Roulette, I’ve rekindled my obsession with the WarioWare series, so this weekend I’m going to dive into the frantic multiplayer portion of WarioWare Mega Party Games for the GameCube.  If I have time, I’m also hoping to play Mega Man 2. It’s been five years since my last playthrough, and Woodman’s theme has fully infested my brain. It’s a musical Zerg creep and the only way to stop it is to take that wooden maniac down. Wish me luck.

Bertz: I just realized it’s been quite some time since I’ve done hard drugs, so tonight I’m going to score a big fat crack rock and smoke the *** out of it. After that I’ll probably wander down to the train tracks and off a bum in his sleep just to see what it’s like to kill a man. At that point two things could happen. I could realize I have an insatiable lust for killing and go on a rampage (FOX will undoubtedly blame video games), or I’ll realize the gravity of the situation and try drown my guilt in a couple bottles of Jameson. By that time my high may be wavering, so I’ll need to re-up and continue the binge. After 72 hours of sleeplessness I’ll check into rehab and get myself straightened out with a few 12-step programs. See you on the other end!

Hope you all enjoyed April Fools Day. What are you playing this weekend?
